Many of you who follow the blog will know by now, that I have my own YouTube channel that is dedicated to helping aspiring filmmakers and freelancers, by providing tutorials, reviews, breakdowns and more. As part of that initiative, I'm really excited to reveal the next stage, that is currently in development...
Within the first few months of freelancing, I've become accustomed to the sheer amount of resources and knowledge required in order to have a chance at being successful in the media industry. Not just how to undertake your specialist role, such as a Camera Operator or a Video Editor, but lots of 'behind-the-scenes' processes and structures.
I mention these briefly in my previous blog post, which can be found here. And it's because of that blog post which made me realise that there's an opportunity to help other freelancers even more.
That is why, I'll soon be launching the Filmmaker Support Hub - a free online platform that will be full of useful insights, videos, and free templates to help filmmakers. Whether you're after a useful document template to manage your short film, a recommendation list of subscription services for your commercial projects, or handy tips for when you're in the editing suite, the Filmmaker Support Hub will constantly evolve, and strive to include more and more content as time goes on, using the insight gained from my own practices and that from fellow filmmakers, too.
I'm really excited for this project, and I really hope it comes in handy for others out there. There's still plenty to do before officially launching the platform. But in the meantime, if you're a filmmaker who is reading this and sounds like this is something you'd be interested in, feel free to drop me an email with your suggested features and I'll see what I can do!
